It’s a fact that life is no easy feat and there will always be rocky patches, but through it all, we don’t stop dreaming about success. Defining success is difficult because this depends on what each person wants, but ultimately, it is about accomplishing one thing or another. It is so easy to get sidetracked when trying to achieve your goals and sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward, but it is important to never, ever settle.
I have no idea how many times I’ve come across this quote below and others very similar to it.
I can relate to the words because life really is tough and if you go around being pessimistic you will likely be miserable all your life. Close to 821million people go to bed hungry every day, and about 59.5 million people have been displaced by war – this is before considering all the diseases and disasters that are prevalent in our world. The fact is that wherever you are in life, you are probably in a better space than someone out there even if that is sometimes hard to believe. Every single day there is a very good reason to stay happy with what you have even if it is little.
I do believe that to have a happy life, you need to always be truly grateful for what you have, but I don’t believe in how this sentiment is now turning into a force that is holding people back from achieving their goals. It is one thing to be grateful for what you have, but it is another to let this be a reason for complacency. If you are looking for success in life, never settle for where you are if that is not where you want to be.
Sometimes we take too much time being thankful that we forget to keep on going. Remember that gratitude is just a small part of the big picture and in order to achieve what you want, you need to keep on pushing. You will be happy if you take the time to appreciate what you have and where you have come from, but trust me, your happiness will be incomplete until you build that life you want or at least start working on it.
Be satisfied with the life you have, but never be happy with it until you get to where you want to be.
